On May 14, 2018, Naseej Academy successfully concluded its webinar entitled "WRITING FOR PUBLICATION: Guidelines for University Librarians, Researchers, and Academics in the LIS Field". The webinar was moderated by Professor Dr. Marta Mestrovic Deyrup, Professor/Head of Technical Services at Seton Hall Universities Libraries, South Orange, N.J., USA.
The broad range of topics covered included: how to turn your idea into an article; the basic types of peer-reviewed articles; the editorial process and how to work successfully with an editor; how to negotiate a publishing contract; and open-access publishing and new media.
The webinar was well attended by a wide range of library and information specialists from several institutions in the Arab world, including: Bibliotheca Alexandrina and Suez Canal University (Egypt); University of Jeddah and Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (Saudi Arabia); Zayed University (UAE); the Lebanese University, Lebanese American University and American University of Beirut (Lebanon); Princess Sumaya University of Technology (Jordan); and Qatar University. The interactive webinar concluded with a Question & Answer session.
Most of the attendees expressed the desire to participate in future webinars organized by Naseej Academy. Professor Dr. Abdallah H. Metwally, Naseej Academy supervisor, extended his thanks to participants and invited them to register for future webinars and other Naseej Academy events. He also thanked the webinar moderator for her efforts and proposed cooperating with her on hosting future events.
