 Naseej Academy Concludes its Workshop on Change Management in Libraries

Naseej Academy successfully concluded its workshop for library leaders in the Arab region on "Change Management in Libraries", organized on December 6, 2016, alongside the Arabic Union Catalog (AUC) Members' Seventh Meeting, at King Abdul Aziz National Library, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The workshop was moderated by Dr. Hassan EL-Sereihy, Professor of Information Science at King Abdulaziz  University in Jeddah. Several senior library leaders and deans participated in the workshop. From Naseej Academy, Eng. Abdulla Al Turaifi, Naseej VP and Naseej Academy supervising committee member, as well as Dr. Abdallah H. Metwally – Naseej Knowledge Assets Consultant – were also present.
The workshop discussed a number of important themes, including leadership skills, the concept of change, and strategies for its success. Top of the agenda was individual and institutional preparedness for change and surrounding risks: cases and models. 
This workshop included a series of activities and events organized by Naseej Academy. Naseej Academy launched a number of initiatives in 2016, including a workshop titled “National Libraries in the GCC: Developing an Ambitious Yet Practical Vision for the Future”, held on October 5–6, 2016, in Kingdom of Bahrain. 
Mr. Martyn Wade, National Librarian and Chief Executive of the National Library of Scotland (2002–2014), and Chair of the Committee for Freedom of Access to Information and Freedom of Expression of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), moderated the workshop.
In collaboration with the Special Libraries Association – Arabian Gulf Chapter, Naseej Academy has offered grants to two library, information and archive professionals to participate in the Mortenson Center Associates Program, to be held from May 24 to June 20, 2017, in Champaign, Illinois, United States.
