Mr. Mohannad Salameh AlKhalialeh, Manager of the Studies and Information Department at the University of Jordan Library, and Ms. Nehad Ali Said AL Hadi, Librarian at Main Library, Sultan Qaboos University – winners of this year’s Naseej Academy and SLA-AGC grant for library professionals – have successfully completed the 2​018 ​Mortenson Center Associates Program​​, entitled "Imagine, Design, Engage, Act: A Professional Development Program for Library Leaders and Innovators". 

The Mortenson Center Associates Program provided the grant recipients a valuable opportunity to explore and review current issues and trends in the world of libraries, to participate in seminars and workshops that provide an overview of current trends in the field, and to visit a variety of public, academic and special libraries, and other organizations. Further, it enabled them to establish a network of dynamic relationships among fellow participants from around the world.

The Associates Program, like many of the Mortenson Center training programs, enhances participants’ skills and confidence, builds their knowledge of best practices, positions them as resources for their colleagues, expands their professional networks, and prepares them for leadership opportunities.

The purpose of the grant is to create opportunities to transfer advanced experience and practices in the field of libraries and information to other libraries in the Arab world and to seek to strengthen the leadership and librarianship skills of Arab librarians to enable them to improve their libraries and communities.

Naseej Academy is a non-profit initiative that seeks to support and develop the leadership of the information, knowledge and higher education sectors in the Arab world by offering a comprehensive range of courses, workshops and continuing education programs in cooperation with local, regional and international organizations.
