Naseej Academy Concludes an Outstanding Online Workshop “Writing for International Journals in the LIS Profession: From Manuscript to Acceptance Letter”

An online workshop entitled “Writing for International Journals in the LIS Profession: From Manuscript to Acceptance Letter”, hosted by Naseej Academy on September 9, 2020, was a resounding success, attracting a large number of participants from across the Arab world.

The workshop was moderated by Prof. Dr. Marta Deyrup, Outreach and Humanities Librarian at Seton Hall University Libraries, South Orange, NJ, USA; Editor of the Journal of Archival Organization; and Acquisitions Editor for the LITA Guide series, published by ALA and Rowman and Littlefield.

A rigorous discussion of the top trends in libraries in 2020 was followed by a series of writing assignments, lectures, and further designed to enable workshop participants to create an individualized plan for submitting a peer-reviewed article to a Q1 or Q2 library publication.

The webinar attracted different attendees from all levels of academia, libraries and from the public and private sectors, interested in writing for the library profession.

By means of an interactive environment, the moderator provided the participants with essential information and engaged them in practical exercises to equip them with the skills to write and submit an article to a leading LIS journal. The attendees’ enthusiastic participation and insatiable thirst for information, evidenced by an hour-long Q&A at the end of the workshop, left no doubt that the webinar was valuable and timely, and can be judged a huge success in every respect. Marta Deyrup is to be commended for her engaging presentation of the content of the webinar, which also ensured the workshop’s success.
