President of Libraries Connected (formerly Society of Chief Librarians) and he is past President of CILIP, the UK’s library and information association.
Director of Designing Libraries a key resource tool for architects and libraries
A Governing Board Member of IFLA and a past Member of the Library Buildings Committee.
A member of the British Library's Public Lending Rights committee.
He is the author of a number of guidelines on Library Buildings, including the book 'Better by Design' (published by Facet Publishing).
Ayub was awarded an MBE by the Queen for his services to libraries. (2013)
