Writing for academic journals is a highly competitive field. The first hurdle a potential author must overcome is to identify a suitable topic or to finish writing their research paper. The next decisive step is to have the work peer- reviewed. This process is a crucial aspect of having a paper accepted for publication by an academic journal, where standards are very high, and the competition is fierce. A paper might then be rejected for one or more reasons. As a result, many academics find it difficult at the beginning of their career to have their first article published, which can undermine their motivation and determination.
While there is therefore no simple way to ensure that one’s research paper will be published by an academic journal, there are several ways to improve your chances of having your work accepted. In this context, Naseej Academy and Mortenson Center for International Library Programs in the United States organized a webinar entitled “From Practitioner to Author: Opportunities for Journal Publishing in Library Trends and Beyond.” The webinar was held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, 7:30–9:00 p.m., Makkah local time (GMT+3).
The webinar moderators stressed that the role of library and information specialists extends far beyond just accessing and using information. In fact, these specialists have a key role in building, developing, and creating the accredited content, and then making it available to a wider scope of patrons.
The webinar moderators shared their extensive experience in the field by exploring the webinar’s objectives, making suggestions, and offering insights to the participants, who included library and information specialists, academics, faculty, researchers and students. The webinar concluded with a lively and interactive open discussion session.
