Naseej Academy Concludes its Webinar “Haptic-Optical Clone Technology: A New Path for the Teacher of the Future”

Haptic-Optical Clone technology is a revolutionary interactive usage of the latest technological advancements in education, especially in developing augmented reality environments. Augmented reality is one of a number of emerging technologies that are leading to reprioritization of future teachers’ competencies to boost their readiness for 2030 and enable them to have a role in shaping the future of learning, with a special focus on learning technologies. With this need in mind, Naseej Academy organized an online webinar entitled “Haptic-Optical Clone Technology: A New Path for the Teacher of the Future”, on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
The webinar was designed to enable participants to gain greater insight into the uses and importance of Haptic-Optical Clone technology in augmented educational reality. In that context, the webinar featured a detailed presentation on the role of the internal and external haptic-optical technology components in the learning process.  It also placed special emphasis on how to overcome the challenges facing this new technology to develop the learning process.
The webinar was moderated by Dr. Khaled Fargoun, Professor and Head of Educational Technology, former Dean and Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Arts at Helwan University, and holder of an M.A. and a PhD. in information and educational technology from Cologne University, Germany. Dr. Fargoun has contributed to and helped organize a number of conferences, forums and workshops in Egypt and abroad. He has authored more than 60 research papers, working papers and books on educational technology and digital advances.

The webinar generated spirited involvement by the audience, which featured professionals and researchers in the use of educational and library technologies in educational institutions, and postgraduate students in library and education technology departments. At the end of the webinar, Dr. Fargoun answered questions from the participants. In answer to the question “Where are we now with such applications?”, he said: “We are progressing in concrete steps. Some applications even take place in 3D real-time, creating a photorealistic augmented reality that is fun for learners to use while still achieving the identified learning objectives.”

Dr. Fargoun also highlighted the importance of this technology in boosting users’ imaginations and opening new horizons for thinking beyond the present reality. His presentation motivated participants to think outside-of-the-box and to break with traditional thinking in terms of the potential in educational and library institutions of advanced technologies such as virtual humans.

Naseej Academy’s general supervisor, Prof. Dr. Abdallah Metwally, stressed Naseej Academy’s commitment to organizing these webinars to help promote new technologies and their adoption and use in libraries and academic institutions.
