In line with Naseej Academy’s scientific and social responsibilities, and in cooperation with the Arab Federation of Libraries and Information (AFLI), Naseej Academy is pleased to call for nominations for the 2019 Award for Pioneers in Libraries and Information.
The award aims to honor pioneers whose work has influenced the field of specialization in scientific research or has otherwise contributed to the development of library and information studies in the Arab world.
The prize is awarded to a member of AFLI who, either individually or in partnership with a member of another scientific or professional organization, has contributed to the field of libraries and information.
The recipient of the award receives US$5,000, plus an honor shield and a certificate of appreciation.
Nomination criteria:
- The candidate should be an outstanding scientific, research or professional contributor and pioneer in the Arab world.
- The candidate should be affiliated with specialized bodies and professional associations, especially the Arab Federation of Libraries and Information, and be an active participant in their activities aimed at ensuring the further development of the library and information profession.
- A candidate may be nominated alone or together with another candidate.
- Candidates who have previously won the award in their current position may not run for it again.
The entities entitled to nominate candidates include: ministries; educational and research institutions; departments of library and information studies; library, information and knowledge associations; and organizations and committees engaged in the field of information science.

The name of the winning candidate will be announced during the main event of the 30th Annual Conference of the Arab Union of Libraries and Information, which will be held October 28–30, 2019, in Djerba, Tunisia.
