 Naseej Academy Concludes its Webinar on: “Challenges of Processing Information in the Digital Age”

Despite the knowledge explosion achieved over the past years, which is further maximized by the fourth industrial revolution, we are still facing certain challenges to leverage information to serve both individuals and institutions, in addition to decision-making and strategic planning. 

A top of these challenges are information security, privacy violation and social engineering. In this context, and in line with the joint collaboration between Naseej Academy and the SLA-AGC, Naseej Academy has organized an online Webinar titled: “Challenges of Processing Information in the Digital Age”, on Wed. 25th Nov., 2020, from 07:30 - 09:30 PM, Makkah Meantime.

 Given the current global COVID-19 pandemic, forcing the whole World into online learning and working, this Webinar gains optimum significance as it meets the pressing needs for knowledge. As such, cyber security has become more important than ever; mainly since cyber-attacks have become very common nowadays. 

The Webinar was moderated by Dr. Nabhan Harith Al Harrasi -Assistant Professor at Sultan Qaboos University. In 2005, Dr. Nabhan obtained hi M.A. in information management from Curtin University in Australia, and his PhD in Information Studies from the British University of Sheffield in 2012. Dr. Nabhan has assumed several leading offices in Sultan Qaboos University, including Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the University’s academic representative to the National Defense College, director of the main library and recently the dean of College of Arts and Social Sciences. In 2017, he was elected as the president of the SLA-AGC, and in 2018 as Chairman of the Chair of the Organizing Committee. 

In his outstanding knowledge and concept enrichment presentation, Dr. Nabhan addressed the key privacy issues, cyber-crimes and intellectual property theft in the digital environment. As well, Dr. Al Harrasi elaborated on a set of processes that help minimize such risks, in addition to the vital strategies to scale down information-related risks in the digital environment.
 
The Webinar attracted an elite of academics, library managers and staff, information management specialists, as well as research centers managers and staff who showed great interest and engagement with the issues discussed. 

In fact, Dr. Nabhan attracted the participants’ attention, thanks to his seamless elaboration and ability to keep the audience eager to hear more. 
At the end of Webinar, the audience was engaged in fruitful discussions, while expressing their excitement to join such Webinar which updated them on the potential risks in the digital environment. They also gained extensive understanding on cyber security issues and their repercussions on both the national and international levels. Furthermore, the audience had a good chance to raise their inquiries and receive convincing answers which reflected Dr. Nabhan’s erudite knowledge.
