Security and privacy aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT) for libraries” Workshop, from Naseej Academy

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a hot topic in today’s world. The rapid mobility and growth of IoT has led to an astonishing number of endpoints that organizations must manage and secure. The global research and advisory firm Gartner predicts that more than 20 billion connected things will be in use by 2020. That is up from 11 billion in 2017.

Furthermore, Gartner predicts that, through 2020, the biggest inhibitor to further growth will be a lack of prioritization and implementation of security best practices and tools in IoT initiative planning.
To address this situation, Naseej Academy, in collaboration with the Special Libraries Association / Arabian Gulf Chapter (SLA/AGC), is pleased to offer a workshop entitled “Security and privacy aspects of the Internet of Things (IOT) for libraries”.

The workshop, will be held on March 3–4, 2019, at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and will precede the 25th Annual Conference & Exhibition of the Special Libraries Association / Arabian Gulf Chapter.

The main objectives of this workshop is to explore the power and potential of the Internet of Things, as well as the need to consider current and potential future security and privacy challenges, as the IoT landscape continues to grow.

In particular, the workshop will address novel approaches related to security and privacy issues in libraries. Participants in the workshop will increase their knowledge and understanding of the Internet of Things and its accompanying technologies, investment in and use of IoT by libraries, and the role and use of brain–computer interface technology in providing library services for people with special needs.

Who should attend?
